Eid Al Mawlid is the celebration of our Prophet’s birthday on the 12th day of the Islamic month of Rabii One. In Tetuan, as well as as in many cities in Morocco we decorate our houses and mosques and we go to watch street processions. The most famous famous is the Sale procession. It is a procession of candles which are made
with multiple colours and travels the main streets of the city towards the one of the mosques. It is also an occasion to gather and read stories of the Mawlid, give speeches and read qasidahs (odes) in memory of this great man. We also wear traditional clothes such as
Djellabas and Kaftans, visit our relatives and friends, donate charity and pray Allah to join our prophet in the afterlife. So, Al Mawlid is turly an opportunity to revive the memory of our loved prophet Mohamed, peace be upon him in an atmosphere of spirituality and pure devotion.
Peace be upon him
